Since 2000, we’ve been supporting our community members in various ways and measuring our success not by monetary size but by more qualitative measurements such as the scale and effectiveness of our efforts. Just imagine what we can achieve together!
With over 20 years of experience, our non-profit organization provides education assistance, career training, job placement, and life management skills for young adults with criminal backgrounds, wrongfully convicted, and aging out of the foster care system. AGING OUT
Hope Is Where the Heart Is
Aging out is an American popular culture vernacular used to describe anytime a youth leaves a formal system of care designed to provide services below a certain age level. There are a variety of applications of the phrase throughout the youth development field.
When the youth cannot return home to their families, child welfare systems must move quickly to find them alternative homes. As time passes, the prospects for landing in safe, loving, permanent homes grow dimmer for foster youth. Many will simply “age out” of the system when they turn 18, without a family and the skills to make it independently.
At GOALS, we will take in these young adults to equip them with the necessary skills to enter society in a productive manner, so they will not turn to a life of crime.
